Tandoori chicken and tandoori chicken recipe with ingredients (along with substitute), and instructions here:

Before diving into the recipe:

Make cooking easier, let taste buds get burst; this fantastic delicious recipe will make you pro in making tandoori chicken with ease and along with tandoori chicken sandwich. We experience this recipe with substitutes too; it tastes the same, somewhere below along with ingredients you got substitutes too.

Ingredients

Tandoori Chicken

  • 500g chicken (bone-in or boneless thighs/breast)

  • ½ cup plain yogurt (preferably thick, hung curd)

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

  • 1 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)

  • ½ tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp garam masala

  • 1 tsp cumin powder

  • ½ tsp coriander powder

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tbsp oil or melted butter

  • A few drops of red/orange food color (optional)

  • Fresh coriander and lemon wedges for garnish

Tandoori Chicken Sandwich

  • 1 cup shredded or sliced tandoori chicken (from above)

  • 2 slices of bread (white, brown, or sandwich rolls)

  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise (optional: mix with garlic or mint chutney)

  • ½ onion, sliced

  • ½ tomato, sliced (optional)

  • Lettuce or spinach leaves (optional) 

  • Butter or oil for grilling

Before we start

Of course, chicken will marinate, but what if we leave it for a couple of hours marinated? The flavor will melt into your mouth instantly, that's good to go.

Cook over the grill, in the oven, or tawa (pan) keep it on high heat.

Smoke is an option, but more flavorful and tasty than you think.

Avoid bread sogginess.

Don't cook, fry vegetables, keep it fresh and use it directly. It can be coated in spices but don't show them heat, crunch matters. 

No mayo, no problem. We'll tell you the best recipe of it too that will not be mayo but restaurant-style creamy spread.
 

P.P.S This is for those who just jump over instructions and start cooking (we all do that. Not a big deal, we learn from mistakes) read each and every instruction’s step carefully, look out what recipe you're trying is it tandoori chicken or tandoori chicken sandwich. Firstly, read carefully the ingredients, however if one of them is missing you can alter it with (mentioned ingredient) then start cooking. It's easy!

Instructions

Tandoori Chicken

Step 1: Clean and wash your chicken thoroughly, then cut in between the chicken for better marinade penetration.

Step 2: After cutting them, put them into the bowl (in which we gonna marinate it), add yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, garam masala (mixed hot spices), cumin powder, coriander powder, salt to taste, 1 tbsp oil or even melted butter, few drops of color red or orange (completely optional). Now coat the chicken in ingredients well.

Step 3: After coating and well marinating, keep the chicken in the fridge or refrigerator for 4 hours, to give the flavor which we asked for.

Step 4: When time is done (after 4 hours),

Oven

(Preheat the oven already if you thought to make it into an oven) preheat to 220°C (430°F). Place chicken on a rack (or even into the baking dish, it won't give that texture of grill but taste will remain the same) for 20-35 mins, flipping halfway.

Pan/Tawa

Heat a tawa/pan (or non-stick), heat it, apply oil well, place chicken, cook and cover on low medium (it takes less time to cook) until both sides are charred and cooked (remember to flip).

Grill

Preheat (already heat) the grill, place the chicken after greasing, and cook for 15-20 minutes.

Step 5: When tandoori chicken is cooked, take them off and place into plates, garnish with lemon wedges, fresh chopped coriander and serve.

Tandoori Chicken Sandwich

Step 1: Shred the cooked tandoori chicken and mix into the mayo (into the yogurt with chili powder, salt (if you have cream you can mix it too) mix them well, don't add water).

Step 2: Took bread and apply mayo on one slice (or if the desi you are, apply chutney will be good too), spread it well, layer lettuce (if using, no restrictions of vegetables), shredded chicken, onion slices, tomato, cucumber, cover with second bread slice.

Step 3: In to the pan or grill,

Pan Method

Heat the pan with oil or butter, place the sandwich onto it and cook until both sides are golden brown.

Grill Press

Place the sandwich onto it and press it (Don't forget to apply oil), toast it until each side is crispy and cook both of the sides.

Step 4: Take the sandwich off, place into a plate or tray, served with chutney, sauce, ketchup or yogurt dip!

How to serve Tandoori Chicken

Serving tandoori chicken like this:

Place hot chicken on a serving platter. Garnish with lemon wedges, chopped coriander, onion rings, and of course along with chutney or dip.

  • ½ cup thick yogurt

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp tandoori masala

  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste

Instructions:

Mix all ingredients until smooth. Adjust spices to taste. For a richer sauce, add a tbsp of cream or mayo. You can use it as a dip or drizzle it over grilled chicken.

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp yogurt

Combine all ingredients until creamy. Spread on bread slices or mix with shredded chicken for extra flavor.

Steps:

Marinate boneless chicken pieces with tandoori masala, yogurt, lemon, and garlic-ginger paste.

Add chopped veggies like bell peppers, onions, and zucchini to the same marinade.

Skewer chicken and veggies alternatively.

Grill or bake until everything is slightly charred and cooked through.

Great as a low-carb meal or served over rice.
